The theme for the Xmas dance party 2006 was set as FABULOUS But the whole event could only be described as ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. The energy was amazing in our self set up nightclub at Okaihau on Paula’s farm The first arrivals, the girls from Whangarei, started setting up their tents in the afternoon followed by a compulsory round of G&T's. Station wagons set up as camping beds, more tents and a caravan were added to the grounds later on. Genuine cow pads scattered around added to the country theme. The barn was dressed accordingly with lots of greenery and appropriate lighting not to overpower the event. DJ Steve had certainly taken time to select music that satisfied all tastes and from when the music started the dance floor was then busy all night. Then our showgirl LOLA
.A country farmer 6 hours previous in gumboots swannery and riding a quad bike gave us 4 fabulous shows. The crowd quiet and stunned in silence, at the amazing performances. Truly something we all will never forget, For some it was a long night the music eventually finishing at 5AM. Murray our Auckland visitor and Wilson show great stamina when there is a party involved. Most stayed for the communal breakfast, coffee being most popular. We were all a happy family and could not stop talking about how much fun the night was. The success of the event was a result of all the effort we all put into it. So many people to thank in the preparations, music, and food for the event but the biggest thanks goes to Paula, her mum and brother Steve for allowing Gay in the Bay to use the barn for our Xmas function. Paula you put in the most time despite what you say, and I know from all of us that attended we thank you for your great efforts and hospitality and friendship. To the Whangarei girls thank you for taking the time to join us at our dance, many new friendships were made, and we hope to cross paths with you again It was just FABULOUS!
