CAMPing weekend

In the ‘Summerless’ North of our beautiful country brave gay souls spent the weekend of 23rd to 25th March CAMPing it up in Tauranga Bay.
On a site which any respectable Real Estate Agent would describe as Absolute,Absolute,Absolute Beach front (and for once they would have been absolutely right in their descriptive prose) the GITB camp site was set up. In the wrong place of course.
They all forgot the home comforts brought along actually needed electrical power to run them. So after a while the need for Microwave, TV, Kettle etc demanded a relocation along the sea frontage to access a power point. It was by shear luck visiting girls where on hand to help the intrepid campers to re-erect their deflated enjoyment. Thanks for your help Donna and Vanessa.

Stan and Steve enjoyed the blustery night and Garry over enjoyed the Lemon’Z’ before the call of weather sanity pulled them away.
Paula and Angie of Cowshed Christmas party fame fronted up and joined the party and other visitors came on the blustery Sunday. These included gay friends from Auckland and rellies from the UK of Geoff and Chris. So we can justifiably claim this event to have been a local, National and International success.

Stalwarts of the whole weekend were Bill & Karel, and Niek & Rob. Well done guys for it was defiantly a cool and windy few days. (Notice however you did bottle out when you heard about the weather sparking its self up for the fun and games of the last few days!!)

Highlights of the Weekend:-

The Gay Northland Beach Casting Competition was held. This was won by some Maori guy who wandered along the beach just as the competition was drawing to a fantastic climax. He flopped in his hand held reel line and pulled out a whopper much to the disgust of those who had come equipped with flashy long hard rods.

Bill was nearly arrested for attempting to bury his dog Cory in the sand. Luckily Cory is not a small hound and Bill could not dig a big enough hole.
Garry’s Lemon’Z’ache lasted for 3 days

The weather did put a dampner on the whole event. Many more would have turned up had the sun been shining. Those GITB guys and gals who were not there were missed and in turn did miss out on a weekend full of laughs and good companionship.

See you next time

Karel won the GITB fishing contest 2007. If you win a contest you get a price! thanks to Lemon-Z Karel will have a nice Lemon-Z flavored fish dish.
