On an overcast day threatening rain and wind a fleet of cars carrying all the fabulous people of the Bay set off from The Domain in the middle of Kerikeri on Sunday 4th November. It was the start of the 2nd annual Gay in the Bay Car Rally
Following brain numbing clues, taunting directions and all the time searching high and low for the those essential items we were challenged to collect along the way the fleet eventually found its way to the beautiful Matauri Bay via The Million Dollar view Road. Does anybody know where you can actually get a ‘Gay advertising leaflet’ on a Sunday morning in greater Kerikeri?
Jo & Jackie diligently marked all of the results sheets, analysing the collected ‘items’ ensuring they were exactly what was instructed to be collected and not some crafty substitute, and eliminated those skulldougerous actions by some to cheat the rest of the gang tucked into a picnic grand and played on the beach. The human pyramid reached a base of five when the climber to the top was a ton weight to far and the inevitable collapse ensued.
Again the happy gays of the bay where joined by more new faces. This special ‘club’ must be the fastest growing club in Northland if not even the whole of New Zealand. The gays in the city have a certain lifestyle but the gays in the bay have the BEST lifestyle. So many are moving and so many are wishing they could it is testament to how good life can get in the Bay of Islands. When our friends put in all the effort for the rest of us to have a great time we know a huge round of applause is not enough. Fantastic job, well done Jo & Jackie. Take a huge bow, (again) it’s just over 11 months until the 3rd annual rally.

ANNUAL GAY IN THE BAY CAR RALLY
You asked for it and now here it is. Our car rally last year was such a big hit that we decided to enlist those wonderful rally organisers Jackie and Jo once again. The date is set for Sunday November 4th stay posted for the start time and location. We hope to see as many, if not more entrants as there were last year. Make sure you’re ready for a thoroughly fun filled and sometimes challenging event. We even have a sponsor this year, KERIPIES is generously donating some of their extremely tasty pies for this years event.
