Will C Barling concert for this saturday in Kerike FREE ENTRY

The amazing L Car Rally was held on Saturday 17th October 2009. To show support for the women in Whangarei, Jo and Jacki ventured down for the 7.30am start.

On arrival at the start point, we were greeted by a very warm welcome, then all vehicles and drivers were scrutinized for safety reasons before being released on to the unsuspecting folk of Whangarei and surrounding districts

Activities during the day included amongst other things, climbing a local mountain, having a photo taken with a member of the local constabulary, digging for worms (lunch for the Kiwis), going to jail and planning your escape, hand milking cows then feeding the calves, assembling or disassembling a live electric fence, shopping in downtown Maungakaramea, playing mini golf at the Waipu Caves, entertaining the old folk at a Waipu retirement village with not so docile tones, attempting to shoot a bull’s-eye at darts and sink pool balls at the Ruakaka Hotel.

It was a great day for everyone who participated, the theme of which was along the lines of the Amazing Race.

A HUGE thank you and congratulations to the organisers Francis and Karen and their helpers for their patience and perseverance with the sisters from out of town. Although a little local knowledge would have been helpful we didn't get lost too many times.

We both had a great day, - even though a few comfort zones were abandoned (especially Jacki's), we got to meet some lovely women and got to see some beautiful Northland countryside.

We would like to encourage the women from the 'Bays' to support the women from Whangarei on their next rally as it is a lot of fun and a great day out.

Jacki and Jo
